MATT BUTTERMANN
Music
Matt is a multi-faceted musician comfortable performing in a wide range of settings. In addition to pursuing jazz since an early age, he found professional opportunities playing in blues, rock, and country bands in Arizona before relocating to New York City to focus solely on jazz and classical music. Since arriving in New York, Matt has performed in famed jazz venues such as the Jazz Standard, Smalls, and Dizzy’s Club alongside jazz luminaries including Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, Melissa Aldana, and Mulgrew Miller among many others. He frequently performs classical guitar as an accompanist for instrumental and vocal soloists and has performed in duo and chamber ensemble settings at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. A member of BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, his compositions and arrangements for small and large ensemble have been performed in New York and abroad by groups such as the Cordoba and National Youth Jazz Orchestras.
